- Long line run to an upstairs Baywood bedroom losing charge. The bigger Craftsman and Tudor homes in Baywood and San Mateo Park often have a Fujitsu outdoor unit down at grade feeding a head two stories up, and that long line run is where slow leaks tend to develop at the flares. I pressure test the full run, remake any flare that will not hold, and recharge by weight rather than just topping it off.
- Voltage sag near downtown tripping the outdoor unit on start. Some of the older buildings near 25th Avenue and B Street feed a Fujitsu outdoor unit off wiring that sags under load when other equipment in the building starts up at the same time. The compressor can trip on a start-up fault instead of running. I check supply voltage under load and correct the wiring or breaker sizing rather than just resetting the unit.
- Condo-style indoor unit not draining, dripping into the ceiling below. In the newer condo buildings downtown, a Fujitsu indoor unit's condensate line sometimes runs a long, mostly flat path to get to a drain, and it is slow to clog once it does. When it backs up, the water finds the ceiling of the unit below instead of the drain. I clear the line, correct what pitch I can, and add a float switch where there was not one.
