Fujitsu in Redwood City
Fujitsu in Redwood City kitchens.
Redwood City is the county seat, and the housing stock spreads out to match it, flatland ranch homes near downtown and the theatre district, modern bay-front condos out at Redwood Shores, and larger estates climbing into Emerald Hills. I have worked Fujitsu systems in all three, and each one has its own failure pattern.
Emerald Hills homes often have long line-set runs up a real elevation change, Redwood Shores condos sit close to grade with limited drain paths, and the older buildings around the downtown theatre district have been converted from commercial to residential use with equipment that was not always sized right for the space.
We service Fujitsu in Redwood City through Bay Area HVAC Service. I provide written quotes, credit the $99 diagnostic toward the repair, and I am EPA 608 certified for refrigerant handling.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Charge imbalance on an Emerald Hills elevation run. A line set climbing a real hillside grade in Emerald Hills needs the charge adjusted for that elevation change, and if it was not accounted for at install, the head runs short on cooling on the hottest days. I recalculate for the actual rise and recharge to the corrected weight.
- Condensate pump failure in a Redwood Shores condo. Units at Redwood Shores sit close to grade near the water, so there is often no gravity fall to a floor drain and the head relies on a small condensate pump. When that pump fails, the float switch shuts the head down to protect the ceiling below, and owners think the whole system died. I replace the pump and confirm the safety switch resets correctly.
- Compressor short cycling in a converted downtown loft. Some of the converted buildings near the theatre district have outdoor units mounted on a sun-baked rooftop or a tight side alley, and a weak run capacitor shows up faster in that heat. The compressor short cycles instead of running a full cycle. I test the capacitor under load rather than assuming the compressor itself has failed.

FAQ
Fujitsu in Redwood City questions, answered.
-
Are you actually local to Redwood City, or is this a long trip for you?
We keep a technician based on the Peninsula in San Mateo County, and Redwood City sits right in that coverage area, so this is a local call for us, not a special trip. -
Will a Fujitsu head still perform in an Emerald Hills home with a long line run?
Yes, as long as the system was charged and set up for that elevation and distance. I check both any time I am called out to a long-run install here. -
My Redwood Shores unit shut off completely with a red light on the head. What does that mean?
On a lot of these installs, that is the condensate safety switch tripping, not a refrigerant or compressor fault. I check the pump and drain path first since that is the most common cause near the water.
