Fujitsu in Alameda

Fujitsu heating and cooling in Alameda.

Alameda is an island, and the marine air shows up in the equipment. On the Fujitsu outdoor units I open here, the aluminum fins and the lower cabinet corrode faster than they would two miles inland. A lot of the housing stock is Victorian and Craftsman with no ductwork, so a Fujitsu Halcyon wall cassette is often the only practical way to heat and cool these homes without tearing into plaster.

We service Fujitsu mini-splits across the West End, the Gold Coast, and Bay Farm. I see a mix of single-zone units in bungalows and three and four head multi-zone systems in the larger pre-war homes. The moderate, fog-cooled climate means these systems run long and gentle, which is good for the compressor but means small refrigerant losses go unnoticed for months.

I am EPA Section 608 Universal certified, so the refrigerant work is done right and logged. HVAC runs through our division Bay Area HVAC Service. The $75 diagnostic is waived when you book the repair, and you get a written quote before I touch anything.

Common repairs we do

What we close on the truck.

  • Corroded outdoor coil and cabinet from estuary salt air. On Alameda units the AOU outdoor coil pits and the fin pack degrades from constant salt mist. I check the coil for leaks, treat or replace the affected section, and recommend a marine-grade fin coating so the next coil lasts.
  • Condensate drain backups in walls with no original duct chase. Retrofit Fujitsu heads in these old homes often drain through a long, low-slope line. Slime builds and water backs into the indoor unit. I clear the line, reset the slope, and add a cleanout so it stays clear.
  • Indoor unit E:EE and communication faults after voltage sag. Older island wiring gives weak voltage, and the inverter board can throw a communication error between the head and the AOU condenser. I verify supply voltage, check the interconnect wiring, and replace the control PCB only if the board is actually failed.

FAQ

Fujitsu in Alameda questions, answered.

  • How long does it take you to reach Alameda from San Ramon?
From our San Ramon base it is usually 35 to 50 minutes over the bridge, and I route through Oakland or San Leandro depending on tube traffic. I give a tighter arrival window the morning of the visit.
  • Can a Fujitsu mini-split heat my Alameda Victorian in winter?
Yes. The fog keeps winters mild here, so a properly sized Fujitsu inverter holds temperature easily. These homes rarely drop into the conditions where heating capacity becomes a concern.
  • Is my corroded outdoor unit worth repairing or should I replace it?
It depends on the compressor and coil. If the corrosion is cosmetic and the sealed system is sound, repair is the right call. If the coil is leaking and the unit is old, I give you both numbers in writing so you decide.
