Daikin in Palo Alto
Daikin heating and cooling in Palo Alto.
Palo Alto has a heavy stock of Eichlers and other no-duct, slab-on-grade homes, especially in the Greenmeadow and Fairmeadow tracts, plus older two-story homes near downtown. Eichler owners go to Daikin ductless because there is no attic and no crawl space to run ducts, and a mini-split heats and cools the open plan without tearing into the slab. We service a lot of those installs here.
We are a Daikin authorized servicer and I was trained on the inverter line at the factory. Palo Alto is bay-moderated and mild, so the systems run long and gentle rather than hard, and the parts that wear are the blower wheels, the drains, and the sensors, more than the compressors.
ADRIUM runs HVAC through Bay Area HVAC Service out of San Ramon. We waive the $75 diagnostic with the repair, we write the quote before any work, and we are out 7 days a week.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Ceiling cassette and head service in Eichlers. Eichler flat roofs leave nowhere to hide equipment, so heads and slim cassettes run hard and gather dust. The blower wheel cakes and the unit loses airflow and ices. I deep-clean the wheel and the coil and check the float and thermistors.
- Drain pump and float switch trips in mild long-run climate. Because Palo Alto's climate keeps these units running in low and dehumidify modes for long stretches, the condensate pumps and float switches see a lot of cycles and gum up. I clean the pump, flush the line, and replace a sticking float so the head stops shutting itself off.
- Thermistor and sensor codes from drift. Long, gentle operation lets thermistors drift out of range and the system throws a sensor code that looks scarier than it is. I check each thermistor against Daikin's resistance table and swap only the one that has drifted.

FAQ
Daikin in Palo Alto questions, answered.
-
How far is Palo Alto from your San Ramon base?
From San Ramon it is about 40 to 50 minutes down 680 and across one of the bridges, depending on traffic. We also serve Atherton, Los Altos Hills, and Saratoga on the Peninsula and South Bay runs, so we batch those trips. -
Will a Daikin mini-split work in an Eichler with radiant heat and no ducts?
Yes. Eichlers are one of the most common ductless jobs in Palo Alto because there is no place to put ducts. We size and service the heads for the open plan and the slab, and the system handles both heating and cooling. -
My Daikin keeps shutting off on its own. Is it broken?
Often it is the condensate float switch tripping to prevent an overflow, which is a drain or pump issue, not a major failure. We clean the pump and line and replace the float if it sticks, and the unit runs through again.
