- Indoor head fan motor or bearing noise. On older Berkeley installs the indoor wall head develops a noisy or failing fan motor, sometimes with an A6 fan fault. I test the motor and the Hall sensor, then replace the motor assembly so the head runs quiet again instead of rattling in a small room.

A bad outdoor thermistor reads temperature wrong and the unit either over-defrosts or ices up. I meter the thermistors against a chart and replace the out-of-range sensor.
