American Standard in East Palo Alto
American Standard in East Palo Alto kitchens.
East Palo Alto is a working city, dense with rental apartments and smaller family homes packed closer together than most of its Peninsula neighbors. A lot of the housing stock here is older, and a good share of it is rented rather than owner-occupied, which changes how equipment gets used and maintained over time compared to Atherton or Menlo Park right next door.
American Standard shows up here mostly as single-stage furnaces and straightforward condensers, practical equipment for practical budgets, since it runs Trane's core engineering at a lower price. In rental buildings, I see filters that have gone unchanged far too long, which is a property management problem more than a tenant one, and it is the single biggest cause of the blower motor failures I get called out for.
We run through Bay Area HVAC Service, the HVAC arm of ADRIUM Service Solutions based in San Ramon. The $99 diagnostic gets credited toward the repair, we hand you a written quote before starting anything, and we are out here 7 days a week.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Blower motor failure from restricted airflow. In East Palo Alto rental units, filters often go long past their replacement date, and the restricted airflow makes the American Standard blower motor work harder and run hotter than it should. Eventually the motor bearing or windings give out. We replace the motor when it is actually failed, and I always flag the filter situation so it does not happen again right away.
- Hot surface igniter failure in single-family furnaces. The smaller family homes here often run an American Standard furnace that has been in place for years, and the hot surface igniter is a wear part that eventually cracks. The furnace attempts ignition, does not get confirmation, and shuts itself down on safety. We test it directly and replace only the igniter when that is the confirmed cause.
- Shared water heater strain in older multi-unit buildings. Some of the older multi-unit buildings here run one gas water heater covering more than one unit, and that heater sees more recovery cycles than a typical single-family tank. The burner and gas valve wear faster under that load. We service the burner assembly and valve on the actual usage pattern, not just a standard single-family schedule.

FAQ
American Standard in East Palo Alto questions, answered.
-
Will you actually send someone to East Palo Alto?
Yes. We have a technician based on the Peninsula in San Mateo County, so East Palo Alto is a normal stop alongside his Menlo Park and Palo Alto calls, not a special trip. We do not promise same-day service, but a local tech usually means less waiting. -
My apartment building's American Standard furnace keeps shutting off, why?
The most common cause I find is restricted airflow from a filter that has not been changed in a long time, which overworks the blower motor and can trip safety switches. We check the filter and airflow first before assuming a bigger part has failed. -
Do you charge differently for rental properties versus owner-occupied homes?
No, the diagnostic is $99 either way and gets credited toward the repair. We give a written quote regardless of who owns the property, and the same repair standards apply.
