Admiral in Redwood City
Admiral in Redwood City kitchens.
Redwood City is the county seat, so between the courthouse crowd and the Fox Theatre marquee lighting up Broadway, it's easy to overlook how much older housing sits just past that core. Emerald Hills still has estate lots with a garage freezer original to a 1960s or 70s build, and the apartment blocks near downtown carry landlord-owned Admiral units that have outlasted a few tenants each.
Admiral made ranges, refrigerators, and standalone freezers, so a Redwood City call could be any of the three, and Maytag's ownership (now Whirlpool) means most of it cross-references to a current part number. When the fault turns out to be refrigerant-related, a slow leak or a compressor that's lost its charge, that's federally regulated recovery work, and I'm EPA 608 certified to handle it correctly rather than vent it and hope.
ADRIUM Service Solutions is owner-operated, based in San Ramon under CSLB #1136642, and we run a technician on the Peninsula so Redwood City doesn't wait on a full cross-bridge drive for every visit.
Common repairs we do
What we close on the truck.
- Freezer defrost timer failure. Common in an Emerald Hills garage freezer running since the original build. Timer quits, ice packs the evaporator coil, temp climbs over a few days. Admiral's original part is long discontinued, but the Whirlpool-platform equivalent cross-references on most units.
- Gas oven igniter or spark module failure. Oven burner won't light, or takes several tries and smells of gas before it catches. Igniter or spark module has worn out. We test before replacing, since a bad flame sensor gets blamed for a dying igniter more often than it should.
- Refrigerant leak or lost charge. Fridge or freezer runs constantly and never gets cold enough. Could be a slow leak at a fitting or a compressor on its way out. Diagnosis and any recovery work is done to EPA 608 standard, and we tell you which one it is before quoting.

FAQ
Admiral in Redwood City questions, answered.
-
Do you actually have coverage out here, or is Redwood City an afterthought?
We keep a technician based on the Peninsula, in San Mateo County, so Redwood City gets the same local response as the rest of the Mid-Peninsula, not a one-off trip from San Ramon. Booked windows get a written arrival time. -
Is it worth fixing an old Admiral, or should I just replace it?
Depends what's wrong. A defrost timer or an igniter is a modest repair on a unit with years left. A dead compressor or a bad seal on an old sealed system is usually a replacement conversation, and I tell you that at the $99 diagnostic, waived if you book the repair. -
Can you still get parts for an Admiral this old?
Most of the time. Admiral was built by Maytag, now part of Whirlpool, so timers, igniters, and control parts cross-reference to current numbers. I confirm the cross by model and serial before ordering anything.
